Spring Scholastic Bookfair

We will hold our next Scholastic Bookfair in the beautiful Garfield Library during Spring Conference Week. Please allow a few extra minutes either before or after your student's conference to drop in and check it out.
Please note that times listed will be dependent on volunteers signing up to work shifts. If a shift does not have any volunteers, the bookfair will be unable to open during that time. To help out, please volunteer for a bookfair shift. You can sign-up on-line here.
Scholastic Bookfairs offer many of the latest and most exciting titles. You can check out the titles here.
Don't forget to check our teacher Wish List Board. Many Garfield teachers request materials to benefit their classrooms which can be purchased at the bookfair. It's a simple, yet wonderful, way to say thank you to a teacher.

EasyScan Registers
During book fair we will be using the Scholastic EasyScan register. Please visit the website below for a wonderful tutorial on how to use the EasyScan cash register system. You can ignore the 'Equipment Set-Up and Return' and 'Sales Report' sections.
Cash Register Tutorial
If you are new to the EasyScan system we recommend showing up to your shift a few minutes early to practice. Just set the EasyScan to practice mode by following the directions included in the training materials.

Please note that if you are working the morning shift from 10:15-10:45 (first recess) the ONLY students that should be at the bookfair are students with gift certificates. We are not open to any other students until AFTER school. Gift certificates are not run through the EasyScan system (please see our book fair guidelines above for more information).
If you are working a shift from 11:30-1:30, please make sure that all students shopping after the dismissal bell DO NOT ride the bus or Boys and Girls club van. We do not want students missing their bus/van. They are welcome to come back with their parents at conference time. Since this shift has two people, we have found it works best to have one person at the library door asking students if they are bus/van riders as well as asking them to leave their backpacks outside while the other works the cash register.
