Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
Holiday Spirit Donations!
The Holiday Spirit Program is designed to help Garfield families during the holiday season by providing new toys and clothing items donated by our Garfield community as well as local organizations. This year we’re doing things a little differently. In order for us to maintain COVID protocols, we will be providing gift cards to families instead of presents and clothing. This allows families to purchase the gifts for their children while maintaining COVID Safety standards.
If you would like to help please consider donating. All donations made between November 16th and December 10th will be going towards the holiday spirit program.

Tomorrow(10/12/2020) is our monthly meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm and will be held via Zoom. We've included the agenda, 9/12 meeting minutes, and 9/2020 financials for you to review or refer to during the meeting.
Part of the agenda is discussing our membership numbers. As of right now, we have 13 members signed up for the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you to those who have renewed your membership. If you have not renewed your membership, please click here. We need to have 25 members signed up by October 31, 2020 to be in good standing with the Washington State PTA. Membership is only $9 per person. By renewing your membership with Garfield PTA, you'll not only be supporting our PTA, but you are eligible for additional discounts through the Washington State PTA.
We appreciate your support of Garfield PTA and hope to see you at the meeting tomorrow!

Garfield Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to the new school year!
We believe Garfield is one of the best elementary schools in the Olympia School District. This
year is starting differently than typical. You may have many questions as your child(ren) and you navigate through this year at Garfield. Joining the PTA is a great way to make the journey easier. We offer a community of parents and guardians of students in all grades, as well as connection to the Principal and teacher representatives, who can answer many of your questions and provide support. While distance learning restricts PTA activities, we are brainstorming new opportunities to connect Garfield families. One exciting update is a shift to more user-friendly information on the PTA website for activities and volunteer opportunities.
Through the PTA, you can meet other families and start the process of establishing new relationships. The PTA keeps families up-to-date on many of the opportunities Garfield
Elementary and the Olympia School District provide for students. We sponsor events to bring
the Garfield community together and help build stronger bonds.
The PTA fundraises to support Garfield Elementary. Funds raised in previous years have supported the purchase and installation of the climbing wall in the gym, the purchase of audio-
visual equipment, performing arts assemblies, books for the library collection, and supply funds
for teachers. PTA fundraisers include the Cougar Mountain Cookie Dough sales, Purchase a
Paver Fundraiser, and Fun Run. Funds are also raised through PTA membership dues.
The PTA hosts fun community events, such as Fall Fling, Winter Bingo Night, monthly movie
nights, and more! Our best events happen when all our parents/guardians come together to
volunteer. Members and non-members alike may volunteer in a way that works for them:
daytime or evening, recurring or sporadically. Cheetahs appreciate their volunteers!
