WELCOME BACK CHEETAHS!
Garfield Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to the new school year! We’re excited to be back in person! This year continues to be different compared to the years prior to March 2020. Many of our community and family events will be postponed to maintain COVID protocols. We want to keep our children and community safe!
As of right now, all meetings will be virtual and held via Zoom. Our board meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month from 6:00-7:00 pm. We will hold four membership meetings this year on a day separate from the board meeting. Membership meetings will include PTA details as well as a presentation from Garfield staff or a community member. Our first member meeting is October 6th at 6:30 pm via Zoom. The Zoom link is the same every month. It can be found here, on our Facebook page and included in the school newsletter. The board and membership meetings are open to members and non-members. We hope you stop by!
We continue to brainstorm events to connect Garfield families. We hope to plan a few online or outdoor events too.
The PTA fundraises to support Garfield Elementary. Funds raised in previous years have supported the purchase and installation of the climbing wall in the gym, the purchase of audio-visual equipment, performing arts assemblies, books for the library collection, and supply funds for teachers. The main fundraisers this year will be the Cougar Mountain Cookie Dough sales this fall, and Dance-a-thon in the spring. We also raise funds through Amazon Smiles, Fred Meyer Rewards, and the Combined Fund Drive.
The PTA needs volunteers. Our best events happen when all our parents/guardians come together to volunteer. Members and non-members alike may volunteer in a way that works for them: daytime or evening, recurring or sporadically. Cheetahs appreciate their volunteers!

We Are Glad You Are Here!
Each year the PTA has supported our teachers with teacher grants to purchase supplies for their classrooms. The funds for these grants are usually raised through our normal fundraising we do throughout the year. As we all know this last year was anything but normal. As our teachers make their way back into the classroom full time, we want to support them as much as we possibly can.
We had such a wonderful response last year. We are hoping to do it once again and raise money for our amazing teachers. All donations made between August 20th and October 1st will be used for teacher grants.
